Ramelton, Co Donegal

The main thing guests remember about Ardeen is how relaxing it is. It's a place where you will feel instantly at home, with cosy rooms, friendly hosts and a welcome that is genuine and warm.

A Victorian house, in a lovely location on the banks of the River Lennon, it's very centrally located for those who want a base for touring Donegal - close to the Inishowen Penisula, an easy drive from Glenveigh National Park and just an hour from Derry city. It's also a quiet location, a short walk to pubs and restaurants but no noise at night.

The five well decorated and furnished bedrooms are very comfortable and well furnished - the sort of rooms it is a real pleasure to return to after a day's touring. They vary in size from quite large to on the small size, but even the smaller ones are very good rooms. All have lovely views, four have en-suite bathrooms, the other has a private bathroom accross the landing.

Breakfasts are excellent, very good home-made bread, fresh fruit and the hearty and well-prepared 'fry-up' for those who want it.

There is also a converted stableyard cottage for rent as self-catering accommodation and a tennis court in the large garden which guests are welcome to use.

Ardeen is exceptional value. Although priced and categorised as a Bed & Breakfast it is more like country or manor house accommodation, a category that would usually have a premium. Move it south to Kerry and the the price would surely double. Highly recommended.
