Ballyduff House: Thomastown, Co Kilkenny

Type: Bed and Breakfasts

A lovely Georgian country house surrounded by woodland and ovelooking the River Nore, Ballyduff is in a secluded setting but is convenient to Kilkenny, Waterford and New Ross.

The interior of the house is beautifully decorated in an elegeant country house sytle. There are three bedrooms are very comfortable and are in a simple old fashioned way with considerable attention to detail. All have good private bathrooms, some with old fashioned free standing baths.

In spite of its elegance Ballyduff is completly unstuffy and is a very laid back place perfect for unwinding, with nice walks through the estate and lots of country pursuits available locally.

No evening meals are provided but there are many good places to eat locally.

Rates guides are per room for 2 people, usually with breakfast.
€ €30-60 €€ €60-120 €€€ €120-180 €€€€ €180-250 €€€€€ €250+

This place was like a stay in paradise - unspoilt countryside, wonderful decor, great breakfasts, great hostess, good restaurants nearby, all quiet except for the sound of the majestic river sweeping by. Better than Mount Juliet at a fraction of the price - thoroughly recommended - enjoy!

Ballyduff is heaven on earth. Ballyduff is not your traditional B&B but is more a manor estate which Brede Thomas opens to the public. And she is the most charming and engaging person. We visit every year. My children almost feel like they have grown up there. Even on days when the weather isn't suited to outside, we enjoy the warmth of the sitting room. A real treat not to be missed, in fact, you should go out of your way to visit Ballyduff House.
