Ballon, Co Carlow
This historic house has recently been extensively renovated by new owners, bedrooms are individually designed with some flair, especially evident in the suites where bathrooms are really fantastic.
Service is friendly and relaxed, there is a restaurant which serves good dinners, popular with both guests and locals. Some rooms have four poster beds.
One proviso - this place is a popular wedding venue, at weekends especially make sure your bedroom is located well away from the inevitable noise.
Rates guides are per room for 2 people, usually with
breakfast.
