Athy, Co Kildare

With just 4 guestrooms and a wonderfully relaxed and friendly atmosphere, guests at Coursetown can easily feel more like family friends than paying guests.

The house is a large 200 year old farmhouse, still at the centre of a working farm and with a long tradition of hospitality. The bedrooms are large and are decorated in a cheerful country-house style, with nice touches like particularly fluffy towels and lovely toiletries in the private shower rooms.

The host is an agricultural scientest with a huge interest in natural history and has amassed a truly impressive library of books, mostly about botany and ornithology, which guests are welcome to use.

It is clear from the beautiful gardens that there is also a plant enthusiast at work here, and so it is. The lady of the house is often found pottering in the garden and has a wealth of knowledge to share with fellow plant lovers. If you have a shared interest in any of these topic expect a really fascinating stay.

Guests are welcome to walk on the farm which is an arable farm (no livestock) and includes a collection of old apple trees.

There is one bedroom on the lower floor which is fully accessible to wheelchair users, including a bathroom with extra space and a large wheel in shower.
