Craigavon, Co Armagh
An 18th century farmhouse in lovely ground just 6 miles from Armagh city, Dundrum has been extemely well preserved and aside from being a great place to stay is a chance to see many its wonderful and largely intact Georgian interior.
The exhuberant plasterwork in the dining room and the fine fanlight over the entrance door are highlights, but you will also notice smaller features like door handles, tiling and cornices, unchanged in almost 300 years.
The bedrooms are huge, very well furninshed and equipped with large private bathrooms, tv with DVD and a selection of movies available and . They all have spendid views over the countryside but it has to be said they are a little disappointing modern after the rest of the house.
At breakfast you could quite honestly be served gruel and still be happy such is the splendour of the room and its views, but in fact you will get a hearty Ulster feed, freshly cooked and delicious and sufficient to set you up for a days touring.
This is a family home at the heart of a working farm and is a very friendly and relaxed place to stay, in spite of the grand surroundings. Families are welcome and visiting children will appreciate the fine facilities for having fun that the family's kids are happy to share!
