A family run 4 star hotel in a castle set in, well, in the middle of nowhere really. It is a gorgeous place though, peaceful, quiet and with fabulous views over the Burren.
The bedrooms are large, decorated in keeping with the building and very well kitted out. Beds are especially comfortable with nice crisp linen sheets.
The small hotel bar is friendly and serves good informal pub lunches while the truly excellent food served for dinner in the dining room should not be missed. There is an emphasis on using the very best ingredients, with lots of organic meat, vegetables and herbs, and then not messing about with them too much so that their natural flavours shine though. We have enjoyed some memorable meals here and highly recommend that you dine in the hotel.
Children are well catered for in family rooms and really enjoy the garden's, which are full of 'useful' hideouts and have plenty of space for them to run off some steam. And they will be begging to be allowed take resident donkey's Bubble and Thomas home with them!
While remote, the hotel is well situated for those touring the area by car and is a perfect place for those looking for a quiet getaway but with the potential for lots to do should the need for activity strike. There are very good value rates for dinner bed and breakfast for two or more days.
