Luxury and pampering are the watchwords here, in a recently built hotel modeled on a Victorian manor house where no stone has been left unturned in the pursuit of excellence. It is set on a hill with views over the town of Westport and Clew Bay beyond and a great deal of care has been put into creating the gardens, which are just coming into maturity now.
Bedrooms are large, very comfortable and well decorated, though a little lacking in character, and all have unusually large bathrooms. Those which incorporate seating areas in the turret are especially nice.
If your budget runs to a suite you do best of all, with four poster beds, sunken seating areas, jacuzzi baths and the best views they really are something.
The La Fougθre restaurant is very good, with excellent cooking in a modern style which makes the best of mostly local ingredients.
The Spa Salveo is the main attraction here, a lovely restful place offering hydrotherapy massage, a thermal spa suite, various pre and post treatment relaxation areas, a fitness suite and spacious treatment rooms. The staff here know their job and treatments are expert and enjoyable.
While Knockranny is a really very good place it lacks the atmosphere and extra 'special something' of similarly priced accommodation elsewhere and is on the expensive side for what it offers. However there are very regular special offers available which are good value and well worth seeking out.

breakfast.
