Bagenalstown, Co Carlow
For those who want to step back and get away from it all, this is the perfect place. At the foot of the Blackstairs mountains in the beautiful Barrow Valley, the location is hard to beat but it is the friendly hospitality that sets it apart.
It feels like a private house, bedrooms are very good indeed and guests are welcome to loll about in the lovely drawing room, surrounded by books and family photos and warmed by a blazing fire.
Dinner is exceptional and is served at a communal table. Breakfast too is a treat. You cannot help but relax here - try to stay for a few days if you can.
Rates guides are per room for 2 people, usually with
breakfast.

Yes, we stayed here last year and it is simply like going to another world,
peaceful, comfortable and with the most hospitable hosts. Bobby is a really
very talented chef. Very quiet location and the most comfortable beds in
Ireland, we slept better here than anywhere elso on our trip! It is a
definite on our list of places to stay when we return to Ireland.
