Newforge House is a wonderful Georgian villa in a quiet location surrounded by peaceful countryside, about 20 minutes from Belfast but feeling like it's in not just a different world but a better, more slow moving, time.
The same family have owned the house and lived there for many generations and in recent years have undertaken a massive restoration which sees the house how in immaculate condition.
There are six individually decorated bedrooms, each one prettier than the last. All have large and partciularly lovely bathrooms. The living room and other public rooms are decorating in keeping with the period of the house, but the decoration has been done with a lovely light touch which makes the rooms light and airy while still warm and comfortable - no mean feat to get all that right.
Dinner is a real treat, served in the lovely dining room or in front of the fire, the seasonal menu is prepared with great care using fresh local ingredients, often organically produced. Breakfast keeps the same standard, and is worth lingering over.
Newforge can also be hired in its entirity by groups for special events, including weddings.
Rates guides are per room for 2 people, usually with
breakfast.
