Ballon, Co Carlow
A Georgian Farmhouse in what initially seems a remote location but which is in fact quite centrally locacated mid way between Dublin and the port of Rosslare.
Bedrooms are larger than usual - old houses tended not to skimp in this regard - and some have four poster beds. All have private bathrooms. It is a real retreat, with nice old fashioned furnising, comfortable bedrooms and unpretentious and very good home cooked food, both at breakfast and at dinner which can be arranged by appointment.
The athmoshere is very much that of a casual and friendly country house, the welcome has real warmth and the value is excellent. This is a very popular place with weekenders from Dublin so book well in advance.
Rates guides are per room for 2 people, usually with
breakfast.
