Most Popular Irish Names 2004
Time was when you could tell that someone was Irish with reasonable accuracy just based on their name. If Patrick, Brendan and Kevin walked in the door, accompanied by Mary, Bridget and Maureen, it was a safe enough bet that you were looking at a group of Irish people.

To be fair it still would be, but a quick glance at Ireland's most popular baby names from 2004 reveals that such a grouping is now way less likely than one comprising Adam, Luke and Aaron and their female friends Sarah, Sophie and Chloe.
They could be from pretty much anywhere. The first old Irish name to appear on the boy's list is Sean, at number one, but on the girl's list you have to get to number 5 before Aoife makes an appearance.
