This walk takes you on a stroll around Dublin to places associated with James Joyce or with characters from his books or short stories.

Although it’s primarily aimed at Joyce fans, those walking with them will not be bored as it includes some of the most interesting places to visit in Dublin along its route.

The response to this question in our Ask about Ireland section suggests an itinerary for a 6-7 day tour of Ireland, which makes maximum use of time but avoids trying to cram too much in.

It is aimed at making sure that you experience Ireland rather than just seeing it, and can be readily adapted.

Galway is a compact city, easily explored by foot in half a day. This tour is a gentle amble through the city centre, with stops to visit places of interest.

At the end there is an optional walk along the edge of Galway Bay, which is ideal for working off lunch and will be especially enjoyed by bird watchers.

Connemara is a place of mountains, lakes and spectacular views famed for the quality of the light. It’s also often overrun with tourists which takes a little from its serenity.

However it is definitely an area worth exploring, and this itinerary moves you quickly through the really busy areas and suggests some lesser known detours.

This is a full day tour which will last into the evening, taking in all of the main sights on the Burren and some lesser known ones as well.

The Ring of Kerry is one of the great drives of the world and a must see for many visitors to Ireland. But it can get crowded, especially at high season.
