Live at the Marquee
Posted in: Comedy | Rock & Pop | What's On in Ireland |
This series of events, which encompasses both music (of very varied types and vintages) and comedy, had its beginnings in 2005 when Cork was the European Capital of Culture. It was intended as a one off event, but proved so popular that it has returned every year since.
All the performances take place in a large Marquee specially erected in Cork’s Docklands area, a once ramshackle part of town that has seen extensive development in recent years. While the marquee is large – it can hold up to 4000, mostly standing – it makes a very intimate venue and the events have a very particular and special atmosphere.
The line up for 2010 keeps up the variety and the high standard of previous years, though a change is that there is a two week run of the musical Mamma Mia in there as well as the usual one-off events and concerts.
The line up in 2010 includes the following:
- JLS (June 16 & 17)
- Kenny Rodgers (June 20)
- Deep Purple (June 30)
- Dara O’Briain (July 2)
- Christy Moore with Donal Synott (July 3)
- Mamma Mia(July 20th – Aug 1st)
Tickets for all events are sold through Ticketmaster
