The choir at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin is among the finest in the country, with a history of more than 5 centuries of singing in the Cathedral. and the annual Carols by Candlelight event is probably the most popular event on their calendar, selling out weeks or even months in advance every year.
For many people attending this concert is the real start of Christmas and is a family tradition dating back generations. The programme combines classic carols and newer favourites, with the audience encouraged to join in with the choir on some.
The setting can not be bettered, with the beautiful cathedral decorated in seasonal finery.
If you cannot get tickets for the concert (likely) you can still hear the choir at Christmas – they sing at three services every week and many of those in the run up to Christmas include carols and other seasonal choices.
