The Dromineer Literary Festival has become well known and much loved as a friendly and intimate event and the location, on the banks of Lough Derg, certainly contribute to its charm.
Although called a literary festival, the events are more wide ranging than this suggests, encompassing visual arts, film, crafts and music. There are poetry and short story competitions and also special workshops for secondary school students.
It’s impossible to ignore the mighty Shannon River when you are in Dromineer, and the annual cruise and talk on Sunday afternoon aboard The Spirit of Killaloe has always been a popular part of the festival.
This is just a taste of whats on offer and really its the pace, friendliness and location of this festival that make it the special event it is. Get along if you can.
Date and details for 2023 subject to confirmation.
