While you can seek out commercial events to take children to at Christmas, if you are in Cork, don’t bother, just take them to Bishop Lucey Park.

They can visit Santa of course and also post their missives to the North Pole in a special post box. There are toys to play with, Jack-in-the-Box and giant candy canes to wonder at. But the main attraction is Santa’s Workshop, created by the always imaginative and wonderful Sproai, a twenty minute journey through a magical world watching Santa’s elves get ready for the big day, and have fun doing it.

Elsewhere in the city events include a Christmas Market and performances on the street by local choirs and musical groups, which will give Cork a wonderful seasonal atmosphere.

Date and details for 2023 subject to confirmation.

Details and Directions

Most events are clustered around Grand Parade the city centre, including Bishop Lucey Park which is just adjacent. The Christmas magic at the Park is free to attend and as it’ll be snowing (really) you are advised to wrap up warmly.

Note the end date – the Sunday before Christmas day. Don’t leave it too late!
