SeaFest celebrates Ireland’s maritime heritage and relationship with the sea over a weekend of fun, family friendly events. Centered around Galway Harbour which becomes an ‘open air sea world’ there will be tours of ocean going vessels, aquatic displays, exhibits on marine life and fun educational activities to introduce children to the science and mysteries of the ocean.
The programme of events also includes a seafood fair, interactive exhibitions and seafaring family entertainment.
Highlights in 2017 include PowerFly’s world-champion flyboarders performing stunning aerial acrobatics over the water using pump-powered jet packs.
Famous tall ship, The Phoenix, seen in movies such as In the Heart of the Sea, and in the TV series Outlander will be in port and will also stop overnight in Kilronan on the Aran Islands.
There are also a series of marine-related business and research events, part of the Our Ocean Wealth Summit, running over the weekend.
