Question:

Since my US cell phone won’t work in Ireland, what is the best solution in order to have cell phone service in Ireland?

I recently read a report on an Irish message board about this very subject.  The person recommended the Vodafone place as it’s right at the airport as you leave the Arrivals hall.

While we have not ever bought a phone in Ireland (the BIL has one for our use when we arrive), we use a cell phone there all the time.  Buying more minutes to top up your talk time is really easy as most villages have at least one corner store that carry such cards.

Just FYI: in Ireland they call them Mobile Phones.  So if you are looking for a shop that sells them, ask for either the brand name (like Vodafone) or a mobile phone shop.  You’ll get more help and less quizzical stares that way. ;o)

    Safe travels,

    Hi Mike,

I had articles a while ago about that but they sort of got lost when I redesigned the site – but your question prompted me to get them back up again.

Here they are, with all prices etc brought up to date as of to-day.
