Dingle to Clifden

April 9, 2007

Question:

Am I out of my mind to drive from Dingle to Clifden in a straight shot? Then go back and see the Cliffs of Moher the next day? Or would it be best to stop and see the cliffs and then continue?

We’ll be in Clifden for four nights and can explore at leisure.

Great, thanks. Sometimes I get way too ambitious.

Dingle to Clifden would be, at a minimum, a six hour drive if you never stop the car, and most of it a boring enough drive. I wouldn’t even think of doing it in one day and would hesitate to ask even someone I really hated to do it!!

Ditto for seeing the cliffs on the way – that would turn a 6 hour drag into an 8 hour hell.

Dropping back from Clifden to see the cliffs is another total non-runner. It would be a 6 and a half hour round trip.

You need a night in between.
